Credit cards are really handy, allowing you to reserve hotel rooms, buy flights, purchase things online and even earn rewards. However, because they are so handy they are also easy to abuse and many people find themselves with a mountain of credit card debt. Here are a few helpful tips for managing your credit card that will also protect or boost your credit rating and score.

  • Always keep an eye on the outstanding balance on your credit card.
  • Purchase within your means, so don't buy too much!
  • Print off online purchase recipts, store store recipts and compare with your monthly statement for irregularities.
  • Always try and pay off your entire monthly bill.
  • Never ever miss your monthly minimum repayment.
  • Don't use another card to pay off your credit card balance.
Always know exactly where you are with your credit card. Pay your bills on time. Never miss your minimum repayments.

If you are having problems with your credit card already then there are some simple steps you can take to curb your problems and hopefully avoid accruing a large credit card debt.
